That guy is full of shit!! My bike 2001 stock had
a 145 main jet. It ran waaaayyy too lean with my
baffle free pipe and UNI filter. I am now running
a 160 main jet and my spark plug is nice and tan
and perfect. He's totally full of shit. With my
drag pipe, I ran a 165 main jet. I was told to
try this by a mechanic who said with my UNI filter
150 would be too small!! Some older savages had a
different carb in which case they ran on a much
smaller main jet. Yours may be the case. I believe
they ran like a 130 stock main jet. Going up 2.5
sizes from 135 to 137.5 is child's play. I'm really
suprised you felt anything and most likely it's
just in your head. You would have to be extremely
sensitive. Only a computer could detect a difference.
With your baffle free drag pipe go up at least 10
main jet. The only bad thing that could happen is
that it runs too rich and you foul a 3 dollar plug.
